Workshop for Entrepreneurs

Last week I attended “Angle for Angels: A Primer for Entrepreneurs on Raising Capital”, a workshop organized by members of the Foothills Angels, Mark and Jim. The workshop is a must for anyone who is trying to raise the capital to start or move forward in any project.   As we have mentioned before, this is the exact stage our project is at, and it was a no-brainer to sign up for the workshop.

Yes, it “only” took five hours to be presented all the information, but it has taken much longer to chew it over.

One of my first thoughts was that i shouldn’t have gone all the way to the Foothills,  as I suffered a minor “information overload”. But it was easy to step over and get into the knowledge presented.

The workshop was about the expectations venture capitalists and angel investors have when they listen to pitches from entrepreneurs.  It was not a simple bullet list of “do this and do that”, but a detailed explanation of why investors want specific things explained and presented to them. For example, no investor wants to hear a “reserved” or “conservative” estimate on potential growth. If they wanted a safe place to put their money into, they’d put it into CDs.

I’d like to give more information on the workshop, but it’d be useless: Just go to their website and a sign up for the next session. They are friendly and helpful people and will be very happy to hear from interested entrepreneurs. I’ve listed two sites that I find very helpful and hope you will too.  Both sites were created by Mark and Jim and contain tons of useful information and links.
