How We Advertise Our Website, part 2

Remember how we talked about advertising with Google Ads in a previous post? Well, through our good friend Joey, we learned that you can do the same thing on Facebook, Hurrah!!!! So we did create our Facebook ad.

We got the ad approved on 02/04, in three days, it had generated close to 7,000 impressions. There are couple comments that I want to make about the FaceBook advertising program in general. First of all, the ads that you can create are just awesome. So much better than Google, sorry guys. You can put a picture and the amount of text that you can write is just incredible. One or two things that I have noticed though. They have a voting system where Facebook members can communicate how the ad applies to them or not. This data is stored in Facebook but not currently reported to the ad creators, coming soon they say. The other thing I noted is the lack of information on the Ads Manager. There is also no possibility to edit your ad after you have created it. You can pause the old one, create a new one with similar criteria and change that new ad. A little bit clumsy but their system is in constant improvment.

Definitely, there is a lot of interest in adding Facebook Ads to your marketing strategy. The main power of the tool is that you can write very selective targeting queries. It has geographical criteria, but also gender, key words, etc. Because profiles on Facebook contain a lot of information, the results of your ad’s criteria targets actual demographics and not just what people search (Google Ads). And I am sure that Facebook is going to improve the targeting system with new targeting filters.

Which brings me to the very exciting LinkedIn advertising program. This is particularly interesting for us at sac-coworking because our business audience is mostly characterized by the professional situation of the individuals. LinkedIn has all the information on its members’ profiles and the ads targeting strategy reflects that very well. You can choose to filter by company size, job function, industry, seniority, gender, age and geography. Unfortunately, we cannot afford LinkedIn DirectAds at this point. It prices 1,000 impressions at $10, with no filters. We will be thrilled to add it to our marketing strategy later on though.

Let us know what your opinion or experience is. Until then, cheers!
